In a typical dental practice, complex dental care requires multiple visits to specialists and lengthy treatment plans. Touro Dental Health’s complex care clinic offers a solution to this problem by providing comprehensive care under one roof.
During your first appointment, you will meet with a Robina Dental provider or specialist and discuss the details and fees of a custom treatment plan for your oral health needs. After treatment, you will receive a follow-up appointment with your assigned provider or specialist.
Schedule an Appointment
A dental care clinic is a place where all of your dental needs can be met under one roof. Having everything in one location is a convenience and a time saver, especially if you have kids.
When deciding whether or not to visit a dental care clinic, consider your personal needs and preferences. Some people prefer the personal attention they get from a dentist in their own office. Others need a more open schedule or are looking for a low-cost or free option.
Another important consideration is the availability of dental specialists in the clinic. Having them available to perform the procedures that they specialize in is beneficial for both patients and dental professionals.
Some dental care clinics are staffed by students who are undergoing training to become dentists. These student dentists examine and treat patients under the supervision of experienced faculty dentists. This may result in longer appointments than in a private practice, but the level of care is more thorough and personal.
During Your First Appointment
A dental exam can be a stressful experience for some people. However, it’s essential to prevent cavities and other problems from developing and getting worse.
During your first appointment, you’ll meet with a dental care clinic doctor who will examine your teeth, gums and mouth. They will also take x-rays to help them see what’s going on underneath the surface and spot areas that may be hard to see with a visual examination alone.
Your doctor will also review your dental and medical history, including any medications or other health conditions that might affect your oral health. They’ll discuss any significant findings with you, and then develop a treatment plan.
During your appointment, you’ll also fill out paperwork and provide any insurance information. It’s best to arrive early so you can complete all the forms and get set up for your appointment.
During Your Follow-Up Appointment
After a dental treatment, it is imperative to ensure that the mouth and teeth are healing properly. If this is not done, it can lead to secondary infections. Follow-up appointments are essential for this purpose.
During your follow-up appointment, we will review your current oral health and address any questions or concerns you may have about your oral care. If there are any problems found, we will suggest a plan to correct them.
Patients will be advised of the recommended treatment, its estimated cost, and any alternative treatments. A signed Treatment Plan will be entered into our patient management computer system.
If you have a dental insurance plan, please bring your coverage with you at your initial visit. Your insurance will pay for the majority of your dental services.
You have the right to review your dental records and X-rays upon your request. A nominal fee is charged for duplication of these records.
During the Treatment Process
The treatment process at the dental care clinic is a multi-step process that includes comprehensive examinations and radiographs. New patients are required to participate in a screening appointment prior to receiving any dental treatment.
In these screenings, a licensed dentist will be looking at your teeth with a mirror to determine if you need any further care. If you do need treatment, your parent/guardian will receive a ‘Dental Treatment Consent Form’ for their approval to begin the treatment plan.
These forms must be filled out completely and signed by the parent/guardian. If the student does not believe that you need treatment, they will ask for a ‘Dental Treatment No-Focus Form’ and your parent/guardian will sign it.
Certain patients with medical problems or severe disabilities require a specialized approach to their dental treatment. This group includes those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or asthma, and individuals with diabetes.
